The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is a book about a girl named Belly who spends her summer at the beach with family and friends. Belly likes a boy named Conrad and his younger brother, Jeremiah. She learns some secrets that make her think differently about love and loyalty. This book is about growing up and finding yourself. The writing is descriptive and makes you feel like you're at the beach. The characters are easy to understand, and their relationships feel real. If you want a good book that makes you feel warm and happy, this is the one to read. (Cris. Grade 7)

This is a very enjoyable book that falls in the category of romance, following the life of Belly Conklin and her mother and brother. For her entire life, she has spent every summer of her life at the beach house with Susannah (her mother's friend) and Susannah's sons. Jeremiah, who is a really good friend, and Conrad, whom she has been chasing for as long as she can remember. Belly tells you all about life at the beach house, both the happy and the sad points. If you are really into this book, the sad moments might make you quite emotional, though the happy points will make you smile. Therefore, I would recommend this book to anyone looking to find a book that will make you feel like you are inside the story. (Emma. Grade 7)

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is the first book to a 3 book sequel. I believe that the genre is romance because it has love triangles. The book is about 2 families (The Fishers and Conklins) that meet up at a beach house every summer. In the first family (Fishers) Susannah and her 2 sons (Conrad the oldest and Jeremiah the second), then in the second family Laurel and her children (Steven the oldest son, and Belly the youngest daughter). Belly had always liked Conrad but this year Belly gets a boyfriend, Conrad is wired and Jeremiah likes Belly. This book is a lot of plot twists that I love because everything is unexpected and interesting. What I also love about this book is that you get flashbacks of previous summers to get more details on the story and characters. I would definitely recommend this book as it is easy to read and has many different plots and points of view.   (Elsa. Grade 7)

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han is a romance book about a girl named Belly who goes to the same summer house every year. There, she, her mother, and her big brother Steven meet their mom's best friend, Susannah, and her two sons, Conrad and Jeremiah. Belly has always loved one of them and hopes, like every summer, that this one could be the one where all her dreams come true. But instead of that, this summer is different from all the others because Conrad wants nothing to do with the others; Mr. Fisher doesn’t come to visit and her brother has to leave early for college then Belly meets a new guy named Cam which irritates the two brothers Jeremiah and Conrad. I really liked this book since it also includes many flashbacks from when they were younger, which helps understand the story better. This was one of my favourite books so far, and if you want to read an exciting romance story, you should read it.  (Melati. Grade 7)

The book ‘The summer i turned pretty’ by Jenny Han is the first book from a 3 book sequel. Its genre is romance. The vocabulary in this book is not hard at all, but at times, I ran into some words I hadn’t recognized. The book is about 2 families that meet up every summer at a beach house in a place called ‘Cousins Beach’. The first family, Susannah and her 2 sons Conrad and Jeremiah and then the second, Laurel and her 2 kids, one boy and one girl, named Steven and Belly (Isabel). This book fits into romance because Belly has had a huge crush on one of the brothers, Conrad, but this summer, everything changes. Belly gets a boyfriend, Conrad is depressed, Jeremiah likes Belly, and Steven has a girlfriend. This book has some unexpected turns within the plot that people may love or may hate. This story has also been published into a series and the second season is to be released this summer.

I would totally recommend this book to anyone who loves teenage romance. This has been my favorite book yet, and I would also recommend reading the next 2 books within the sequel.  (Lilly. Grade 7)
