The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

The Lightning Thief, written by Rick Riordan is the first out of the Percy Jackson series. Percy lives a troubled life, but one day his world gets completely turned over. Teachers turn out to be blood thirsty monsters and students end up not being human at all. All the myths and legends Percy has heard end up being true and nowhere ends up being safe, until he ends up at half-blood hill. Though even there his challenges continue. A prophesy is told and he is sent on a quest to retrieve the ultimate lightning bolt. He faces monsters, betrayal, and even the death of his beloved ones. I would rate this book 4/5 because it was very well written and was so exciting that it kept me reading. The word vocabulary also wasn't too difficult so I would rate it 2/5 and I would put it under the genre of adventure.  (Enya. Grade 6)
