The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman is about a little girl going on an adventure to solve a mystery. The book best fits in the genre of adventure because it's all about the girl (Lyra) and her adventure through the world. Lyra meets witches, polar bears, and many more characters, she got allies and enemies. I believe that in this book not a lot of hard words were used but from time to time there have been a few words that could be confusing or hard. There are no pictures or diagrams in the book which means you had to use your imagination. I did not like this book because I found it really long and never really got to the point when I wanted to know more. I would not recommend this book but I would also not discourage it.  (Elsa.
