This realistic fiction takes you through the life of twelve year old boy Jingwen, his younger brother Yanghao, and the hardworking mother of the two, 'Mama'. The family of three has just immigrated to Australia from Mars and are faced with multiple challenges that they must work together to fix and repair. This book was amazing to read as it follows a sad and traumatic storyline but is all told through the eyes of a child which makes some parts of the book light and comedic. Reading this I could really see the emotional bond between the family and I would say this because I feel like I could relate with some aspects of the book. In conclusion I would recommend this book to anyone who has younger siblings or has immigrated from another country so that they to can enjoy this book as much as I did. (Thomas, Grade 6)
