George by Alex Gino is a book based on a boy named George who feels like a girl. His best friend Kelly doesn’t know about what George feels like no one does. George has a secret stash of magazines girls' magazines and he looks at them every day thinking about what it would be like if that could happen to her. There is a school production happening, Charlotte’s Web! George is touched by Charlotte’s Web and would like to play her, but when she auditions they say no because her appearance is a boy, not a girl. Kelly got the lead and has to perform twice but let George do the second performance in front of George’s mom and the audience. Everyone is touched by George’s performance and loved it. At the end of the book is George slowly changing, not with surgery but with the people around her. (NIka, Grade 6)

George by Alex Gino was a realistic fiction about finding what gender you want to be.

The story starts off with George having to be sad about a spider that died. She wanted

to be like the spider, brave, courageous and strong. The book was really easy to read and very interesting because of the drama this book includes. The book also includes what it is like for both genders and what it’s like for the LGBTQ+ community. Given that the book was mainly about being a girl than just a boy.

GEORGE by Alex Gino is a heart-touching realistic fiction about a boy named George, and his discovery of his sexuality. This book draws the reader into the perspective of a transgender child who identifies as a female contradicting her biological sex.

If the author of this book, Alex Gino, was a heterosexual male, a barrier would limit the realistic aspect of this book since he may not fully understand the troubles of being part of the LGBTQ+ community. But, Alex Gino identifies as genderqueer. Although he is not transgender, Alex can still relate to the difficulties of coming out to friends and family and establishing your true identity. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling with their sexuality and in need of motivation to express themselves, or to any heterosexual people who find insight into seeing what life is like not feeling comfortable with your assigned sex interesting. I personally enjoyed GEORGE because of the amount of information provided to connect your feelings to George's nervous but sure emotions. My only reasoning for not rating this book a five is because of the easy vocabulary and an unresolved dilemma. Although it may contribute to realism, for a one part book it seems unnatural to not conclude it. (Thomas, Grade 6)

The title of the book is George by Alex Gino, the book is realistic fiction. I would recommend this book to others who like realistic fiction or want to try realistic fiction. Due to the fact that it's different than others because it's telling a story about gender equality. In my opinion I felt that this book is very intresting because it tends to switch up a bit and has a bit of action and drama. So overeall if you like a book that is talking about a SDG goal I would recommend this or if you just want to switch it up. (Kobe, Grade 6)

The book that I read is called George by Alex Gino. I think this book was really interesting because it talked a lot about how his life was and how he was gay. His best friend's name was Kelly, and they hung out a lot, and he shared a lot of his secrets with her. In this book, I think there is a lot of detail about his life and what happened to him. I would also say that this book leans toward the fiction genre. I would recommend this book to people who would like to see what it is like to live when you are transgender or gay. I would also say this book really talks about how people look at him as a boy, but he is really a girl underneath. Overall, I would say this book is really good, and I would recommend it for kids above the age of 12. (Kiran. Grade 7)

I read the book "George" and I want to talk about it. This book was written by Alex Gino. The book tells the story of ten-year-old George, who is anatomically a boy but knows she is a girl. I think that this story touches on the problem of the modern world (sex change) because people's opinions on this issue are not unambiguous. George faces many problems, for example, he wants to get the role of Charlotte in a school play, but Miss's teacher does not give him this role because she thinks he is a boy, he also had to explain himself to his family and how it all ended you will find out by yourself. This book may not be suitable for all people, but I can recommend it to those who interested in the issue of LGBT.My opinion is that in this book it will be difficult to understand what the author is trying to say the first time, but if you read the book until the end, you understand the deep meaning. George by Alex Gino is a children's book talking about a trans girl named Melissa that is in fourth grade. The world sees Melissa as a boy named George and she used their class play of Charlotte Web to prove to her mom that she is a girl. She did that by switching roles with her Bestie Kelly. Since she was not successful in auditioning for Charlotte. I admire the friendship of Kelly and Melissa since at first Kelly still thought Melissa was a boy. But after Melissa confesses that she was actually a girl Kelly was still supportive and shows how having a strong relationship is really important. Along the story the narrator continues to show how good of a friend Kelly is. But Melissa was also often bullied by a kid called Jeff, and at one point Melissa puked on him and punched him. I feel really touched during this chapter since I once also got in a fight since a classmate has been really irritating. Overall I think the book is a really easy book to read and is not the best I read. But it is also recommended to people that want something easy (Eden. Grade 7)

George by Alex Gino is about a boy who feels like he is in the wrong body and he feels like he should be a girl but is scared because he thinks people will judge him for it. I don't like this book but one good thing is the characters I like them because Alex Gino describes them well. It very well tells how a transphobic person feels like. George is very scared to show how he feels and tries to hide it all the time like when his brother comes home he tried to hide his girl magazines because he feels like people would judge him for it. George by Alex Gino

This is a relatively short book about a boy (George) who feels like he is a girl, and even though no one notices yet he keeps trying different ways of making it clear. Avoiding the two class bullies, His best friend Kelly is a huge help in this, even though she doesn’t completely realize his situation just yet. Over time, more and more people become more supportive and respectful of him.

I think this could be a great book for people who are going through similar things because it can show you that in the end everything will work out and people will start to accept you. I would recommend this book to anyone, though some topics might not be suitable for younger kids. Therefore I would recommend this book to anyone around the age of 11-15

The book "George" by Alex Gino is probably one of my top favorite books I have read so far. This book shows the perspective of a young boy named George struggling with his identity (gender). The book is really interesting and fun to read. It displays different stories in George's life like in school or at home showing the struggle to come out and show her true self. Even though this book is fiction it feels real and I feel like someone is directly telling me about someone's life. I would recommend this to any people interested in the perspective of the LGBTQ community or anyone that loves realistic fiction overall. (Jeho. Grade 6)

George by Alex Gino is a realistic - fiction book and I definitely recommend it because in my opinion, It's a book where there is a boy who encounters problems like a school bully. Or something good will happen like a very meaningful play where he was congratulated by people and when they went to the zoo to see animals. George has developed to be confident. I would say a 3 year old and above can read this book. (Juno. Grade 6)

George was written by Alex Gino and it is about George's episodes. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. This book is realistic fiction because it doesn't have any fantasies and the story might happen in real life. This book is mainly about people seeing George as a boy. However, she knows that she is a girl, not a boy and this book shows some stories from people treating her as a boy. I think this is a nice book because I like how the author used some figurative language. However, I think this book needs some vocabulary because it was hard to find some vocabularies that I don't know. Overall, I think this book has quite a nice story, but it should have some vocabulary.  (Siwoo. Grade 7)

George, Be who you are by: Alex Gino.

This book is about a boy named George that feels like a girl and wants to be one.

George is also trying to get the role as Charlotte in their school theatre but the teacher said that there are too many girls wanting that role.

I rate this book's story a 4/5. I really liked how George tried hiding his feelings and it changed that he wanted to let everyone know that he felt like a girl.

I rate the vocabulary a 3/5. It wasn't so hard, so it was kind of easy to read.

But i rate this book 3.5/5 not my favourite type but ok.

GEORGE by Alex Gino is a fiction as well as a mystery novel. This book is about how a girl named George, who sees herself, and is seen by other as well, as a boy. Throughout the book she wonders multiple times if she is a girl or a boy. I really like this book because as the book progresses the story gets more and more curious as George questions her sexuality and discovers herself as a girl. I also enjoyed the book because it talks about being who you are. For example, George hides magazines of girls that look perfect to her and tries to be like them, but then realizes that she doesn't need to be perfect to be loved. George by Alex Gino is a wonderful story about a young girl named Melisa who struggles with showing her true self to the people who see her as a young boy named George. In the middle of the story, she finally proves this to her mother which she does through a school play. Later on in the story, Kelly finds a way for Melisa to fully express and become herself through her new fashion provided by Kelly. This story is an amazing story about identity and how you can express yourself in different ways. I would recommend this to around grade 5 or 6 up and I would rate this story a 5 out of 5 with an easy vocabulary being 1 out of 5.  (Philippe. Grade 7)

GEORGE by Alex Gino is a book about a grade 4 boy that wants to be a girl and the genre of this book is realistic fiction. I thought it was a real story until like when I read almost the end of the book.

This book wasn’t the story I thought it was because the title and picture looked kind of classic to me and when I saw the text ‘BE WHO YOU ARE.’, I thought it was like a story about how a character finding a way of what he wants to be. But I think this kind of story is good too. It was an excellent book, with a good story, not a hard vocabulary, and good characters, and what I like about the story about transgender. It felt fresh and new to me.  (Woojin. Grade 6)

George is a novel book written by Alex Gino. It's about a girl named George, George was born as a boy but after time she noticed that she was a girl. George is in 4th grade and the class is going to do a performance of Charlotte´s web for the school. George and her best friend Kelly are practicing day after day at Kelly's house. They take turns practicing the two big rolls Charlotte and Wilbur.

George wants to be Charlotte in the play but she hasn't told anyone not even her best friend that she is a girl. So she thinks it would be weird if she auditions for the only role all the girls want, and it would be weird if Charlotte would be played by a boy.

But when it's time for George's auditions she decides to try out for Charlotte.

Just as she finishes her audition ms. Udell says, George, What was that?

Was that supposed to be some kind of joke?

Because that wasn't very funny.

When the results come back she finds out that Kelly got to be Charlotte and George didn't get any role.

How will it go for George will people find that she is a girl?

I think George is a realistic fiction book. (Marta. Grade 6)

George by Alex Gino is about a transgender boy that is on grade 4 trying to be recognised as a girl to her friends and family. Her best friend Kelly helps George during the story and basically, it is a school situation there are events such as a school play of ‘Charlotte's Web ’. The genre is realistic fiction, because that these situations can actually happen in our life. I’ll rather recomend this book to some people interested about some special genders (The whole book is about a trans-gender kid!). I’ll rate this book as a 3 out of five. Tyhe vocabulary was not that hard. (Youngmin. Grade 7)

My book was Gearge by Alex Gino

The book is about a boy who actually wants to be a girl and they have a school play and the boy wants to play a girl row but the teachers won’t allow it because he is a boy. But his best friend stays on his side and tries to help him as much as she can. He also gets in a lot of problems with his family for wanting to be a girl. It's actually quite an interesting story and I liked it. But the book is about a important topic because you never should judge people by what they are or want to be

I liked it (3 out of 5) and the vocabulary difficulty was (1out of 5) (Melati. Grade 7)

This book has an exciting topic. I mean that topic is almost impossible to happen in our lifetime, but that’s what makes it more interesting. But I think the writer didn’t really use the topic in the writing. The whole topic is kinda sad, but the book cover and the drawing inside the book look really bright and happy. I am not sure if the author did that on purpose but I think it might be showing how the main character George was having a hard time showing his real opinion to other people. So I think this book will be good for people who is really interested in the story that goes through tough time-life changing the experiences-happy ending. The vocabulary was easy. (Lael. Grade 6)

George is a book by Alex Gino. In my opinion, George is a book that fits best into realistic fiction. I think that because it’s about a transgender boy or one who wants to be. Throughout the book, he/she sees himself/herself as a girl. When a school play came up George(The boy) wants to be charlotte in charlottes web. He practices nonstop with his girl best friend. On the day of the audition when he comes up to try to be charlotte the teacher stops him saying that too many girls wanted to be charlotte and that it was a girl's role. The teacher told him to try to audition for something else but George does not want to. George is already sad about it but then his best friend gets the part. Kelly his friend feels bad but they come up with a plan. In the end George gets to be charlotte and when they when to the zoo alone on the weekend he finally got to be who he was a Girl called Melisa. A good part is that the book is the reading level is low.  (Elsa. Grade 7)

This book is called George by Alex Gino. I think this story is realistic fiction because the story is not true but could likely happen in real life. I love this because it is an important book, it raises awareness about a debatably sensitive topic and shares realistic reactions throughout the book. This book has dialogue, different points of view, and great describing that helps you imagine whats happening in your mind. It makes you feel a certain way because of how well the author interprets emotions; Alex Gino makes you feel like you are the character. It was touching and engaging, but quite an easy book to read.
