Tiger Rising by Kate Dicamillo is a realistic fiction book. Rob lives in a motel with his father. His life is ordinary and sad. One day, he makes a discovery, he finds a tiger. He keeps his discovery a secret until he meets Sistine. A girl like no other he has ever met. It doesn't take long for him to start trusting her and therefore revealing his secret. Together they decide what to do with the discovery... I personally didn't love this book, I didn't hate it either, but there are definitely better books. I think the reason why I didn't like this book a lot is because it doesn't have a lot of exciting events. I also think it is because the level was too easy. This book is very short and super easy to read, so if you want a quick read that is not challenging, read this book. (Malena. Grade 8)

I read ‘Tiger Rising’ by Kate DiCamillo. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. The book was pretty interesting and had some ideas that I have never seen in a story before. The book was very short so I could've read it in one day. However, the storyline was a little bit childish and suitable for younger readers. A positive aspect of the book is the flow of the story which had it quick to read, therefore it wasn’t boring. The vocabulary wasn't really hard but there were some words that I was confused about, so I had to look them up. I would recommend this book to a younger audience or someone in grade 8 or above who wants to read something interesting that doesn’t take up a lot of time. (Sebin. Grade 8)
