The Wicked King (Folk of Air Book 2) by Holly Black

The Wicked king by Holly Black is the second book of the folk of air series. Its a book with happy endings, complex schemes, amazing story telling, representation of trauma, compelling relationships, writing that will keep you hooked from the second you flip the first page and plot twists that knock you off your feet all with a healthy dose of war, betrayal, fae and a romance subplot that will make you swoon. The progression of Jude and Cardans relationship throughout this book is purely sublime and the scheme to keep Cardan in power kept me on my tippy toes. I gave this book 5 stars because I truly believe that this is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read and I highly recommend it to anyone who is into books like Divergent, the ACOTAR series and hunger games. The vocabulary in this book wasn't too challenging but the writing style could be a bit difficult for a younger audience to understand. I believe this book would be best suited for anyone over the age of 13. (Lola. Grade 8)
