Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Dauglas Adams

Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy follows a man named Arthur Dent who is just an average everyday man.

One day though he notices that his house his get bulldozered by a demolition crew in order to make way for a bypass. He ends up jumping in front of the machines to make them stop.

His friend Ford Prefect convinces him to not worry about it right now and instead go and have a drink with him at the bar.

This is where Ford reveals that he is actually from another planet and tells Arthur that a sort of galactic federation are planning the demolition of the entire planet so that a bypass can be built in its place through space.

Later that day the galactic government announces this to the entire planet causing everyone panic.

Ford although manages to catch a ride for him and Arthur on a spaceship which leads to an epic adventure through space. (Aron, Grade 8)
