The Fault in Our Stars by John Green is a realistic fiction novel about 2 teenagers who meet through their sickness and fall in love. The main character, Hazel, has a cancer affecting her lungs. The boy she meets, named Augustus, previously had a cancer that targeted his bones. He has a leg amputation. They meet, and end up falling in love. Hazel shares her favorite book and author with him, and they are able to travel to Amsterdam to meet the author. But things don't turn out exactly how they planned. Although this book does have a sad ending, I enjoyed this book and would recommend it because it gave a lot of perspective of what it was like to have cancer, and also what it was like to be in love with someone who could die (of it). The Fault in Our Stars is about a 16 year old girl named Hazel, she has lung cancer and her mom made her sign up for a "support group" with a few other kids and teenagers suffering from cancer. While at a support group meeting, she sees Augustus Waters. Throughout the course of the book she falls in love with him. They both share an interest in the book "An Imperial Affliction" written by Peter Van Houten, but when they travel to Amsterdam to visit him, they discover he is a jerk. I like this book because it puts us in the point of view of someone who knows they are going to die soon. I heavily recommend this book for anyone in middle school, but I think it should be for higher grades because it contains a few swear words and some mature content. (James. Grade 7)

I would recommend this book to anyone. Hazel's depression, she searches in books and the internet and she finds out that cancer makes people depressed, her mom decides to sign her up in a Cancer Kid Support Group, she thinks it's boring, but she joins the group to make her parents happy. She carries a tank around with her because she has to breathe from it. One day when she arrived, she saw this boy staring at her the whole time. He had blue eyes and big muscles (that's how she described him) He fell in love with her, but she still wasn't sure about falling in love with him. They suddenly decided to go to Amsterdam to meet her favorite author from the book An Imperial Affliction. She wanted to meet him because she wanted to know what happened to the characters after, while in Amsterdam she develops feelings for Agustus. Tragedy happened towards the end of the book. (Ellery. The Fault in Our Stars is a sad, romance book. It's an interesting story, but I didn't really enjoy it very much. The vocabulary was pretty challenging and there are a few bad words in the book. The beginning was really nice but as you get to the end it has less and less context and I didn't understand it very well. Overall, the book was alright and I would recommend it to people who are interested in sad romance books. (Rachel. Grade 8)

Fault in our stars is about a girl who has cancer, she meets a boy who survived cancer and has an amputated leg. They fall in love and go through ups and downs with their health struggles. This book is a sad romance book, personally, I didn't enjoy it a lot because it isn't the type of book I enjoy. But if you like sad romance with tragedy, this is a book for you. It had some pretty challenging vocabulary and also some bad words. (Malena. Grade 8)
