Scarlet and Ivy: The Lost Twin by Sophie Cleverly is a book about twins, Scarlet and Ivy living in the 20th century. They lost their mother after they were born and when their father said it was time for their education, they took exams to attend Rookwood, a prestigious boarding school for middle school girls. Scarlet was accepted, yet Ivy wasn't. Scarlet didn't stay long in Rookwood until she was proclaimed dead because of an illness. Ivy now replaces her identical twin and finds clues of what the wicked headmistress did to Scarlet. Will Ivy be able to make friends? Is Scarlet really dead or is she alive? I recommend this book to people who are interested in how they solve the mystery of Scarlet’s disappearance. The vocabulary is rather easy to understand because the author uses simple words for the story. The genre of this book is both mystery and adventure. (Ahyun. Grade 7)

"Scarlet and Ivy, The Lost Twin" by Sophie Cleverly is a really good book that I would recommend to anyone. This story is about two identical twin sisters, Scarlet and Ivy. When the twins take an entrance exam for the boarding school "Rookwood", only Scarlet gets in and the sisters get separated. Scarlet however does not last long in the school because she supposedly dies of the flu. Ivy is then put into Scarlet's place and is forced to act like her and not tell anyone about the secret. Ivy soon discovers her missing sister left her with a series of clues that she needs to follow in order to solve a mystery. Did Scarlet somehow know this would happen to her? Is she really dead? I loved this book. It fits under the genres adventure, mystery, and realistic fiction all in one. The author uses the author's craft techniques to express how Ivy has to search around the school to find parts of Scarlet's diary. There is no specific age group for this book but I would mostly recommend it for ages 9 and up. (Nina. Grade 7)

Scarlet and Ivy by Sophie Cleverly is a mystery book. It focuses on a twin named Ivy. Her sister Scarlet had recently died at Rookwood school, the academy she had started going to. She was said to have died from a type of unidentified flu. With a spot being open, Ivy is offered to go and replace her sister. She finds out they meant for her to replace her sister very literally. She must pretend to be Scarlet. When she arrives, things seem very fishy to Ivy. She then finds a part of her sister's diary. She will try to collect all the pieces of the diary and find out the truth behind her sisters' death... I enjoyed reading this book, as I thought the plot was interesting and liked finding out the new pieces of information every time she found another piece of the diary. I would recommend this book to someone who likes mystery books. (Justine. Grade 8)

I read ‘ Scarlet and Ivy’ by Sophie Cleverly. The genre of this book is mystery. I gave this book a rating of 3 because the story was interesting but not as interesting enough to get a rating of 5. In the book Scarlet disappears and Ivy, her twin sister, takes her place and pretends to be Scarlet at school. Meanwhile, she is trying to discover the mystery of why Scarlett has disappeared. The story line was pretty obvious so I could predict what was going to happen next. It was also a little bit childish for me but it was a fun book at times. It is from a series of books, so if you are a reader who likes book series and mysteries, I would recommend this book. (Sebin. Grade 8)

Scarlet and Ivy The Lost Twin by Sophie Cleverly was a really good book and I quite enjoyed it. It is about the two identical twins Scarlet and Ivy. When their father told them it's time for them to get an education, they both took the entrance exam to the Rookwood school. One passed, one didn't... But Scarlet didn't last long at her new boarding school, she was soon declared deceased from a flu... Ivy is sent to the school to replace her sister. But while at the school, she makes some sinister discoveries... I think this book was really good, it best fits into the category of mystery since Ivy has to solve the case of her deceased sister. The vocabulary of this book wasn't very hard, so if you love mystery but don't want to waste time having to look up vocabulary words, this is the book for you. (Malena. Grade 8)
