Refugee by Alan Gratz is a historical novel that braids the stories of three young refugees in three different time periods and settings: 1938 Berlin, 1994 Cuba, and 2015 Syria. The circumstances of all the kids and families are dire, and their journeys are full of impending danger. I found it super hard to put down and enjoyed reading how the book switched from story to story, leaving suspense after every chapter. This book is a must-read if you are interested in the tough life that refugees go through, as well as the racism and segregation that is inevitable on their journeys. Overall this is a great book that goes into detail about the life of refugees and the struggles they face. (Edu. Grade 8)

I really recommend this book it was based on history and the story about the Nazis, but the story wasn’t boring at all. There were some scary parts at the beginning of the story. The wording of the book made me concentrate a lot. There are 3 perspectives of Children with all same situation but in different places. It was very interesting that even they are having the same problem they solve it in their own way. The vocabulary wasn’t really hard there were just some wording that was unfamiliar. (Sebin. The book I read was Refugee, I think it is a great book and is very interesting. The book contains 3 stories about 3 different children who are leaving their country to find a safe place to stay and all of them have the same goal. In the end, all of the stories are connected and related. When you start reading the book, it is really hard to put down. I really liked how suspenseful the book was because it made you wonder what would happen next. I would recommend this book to someone who likes to read suspense genre books that have a little bit of adventure. Overall, this book was very good and I would recommend it. (Seoyeon. Grade 7)
