Once Was A Time by Leila Sales is about the unexpected adventures of a girl called Charlotte Bromley, also known as, Lottie. This book mainly talks about time travel and how it was discovered and what can happen to you if you come across the opportunity to time travel, specifically what will happen to Lottie if she time traveled. I think that this book was interesting and good because it had some plot twists and parts where it was funny. On the other hand, I don’t believe that it was super intriguing to the point where I was enthralled with it. For example, there were some parts that were a bit boring and confusing in terms of the wording. There were also many British slangs that I didn’t understand and was a bit confused with the sentence that the phrase was in. I think this book was ok but definitely not one of the best books I’ve ever read. If you are interested in a mix of history, science fiction, and adventure, this is definitely the book for you. They face danger and Lottie finds herself in a different place where her real journey begins. This book fits into the genres friendship and adventure because of the connection and relationship between Lottie and Kitty and the adventures Lottie experiences in this story. I really enjoyed this book because it is all about traveling through time and it has everything: suspense, humor, a heroine and is an exciting read. It has an emotional ending when it comes to the main characters.I recommend this book because it is a book you can’t put down and it is original and is a story that was well written. I read Once Was a Time by Leila Sales. This science fiction novel takes place in England, in 1940. It is about a girl named Lottie and her best friend Kitty. The girls are inseparable and promise to stick together no matter what the future may bring. Lottie's father is a scientist who has discovered that time travel is real. This discovery attracts the attention of cruel forces and Lottie faces an impossible choice of choosing between danger and safety. I enjoyed reading this book as I liked how sentimental the storyline is. It was great from beginning to end and I could not put the book down. I found it to be an easy read because there wasn’t any challenging vocabulary. Overall, I’d highly recommend this book to anyone as it is very easy to read and understand and is extremely interesting and moving. (Seoyeon. Grade 7)
