The dystopian novel, Insurgent by Veronica Roth, is an exciting mix of suspense, romance, and science fiction. One of the antagonists tries to capture ‘divergent” members of society to control them through the use of a mind-controlling serum. Meanwhile, the character Tris has to find out why her parents sacrificed their lives and why the Erudites are trying to stop them. I really enjoyed this novel as there were many interesting plot twists. If you like a book that is a bit of a challenge, I would recommend this keeping in mind that it is quite long and the vocabulary is quite advanced. However, this is not suited to younger readers because there is some violent content. Overall, I strongly recommend this novel to those looking for a story that will leave you on the edge of your seat, expand your vocabulary, as well as provide many unexpected twists. (Seoyeon. Insurgent by Veronica Roth was the continuation of the other book "Divergent". The Erudite faction is trying to get control of everyone from every different faction and to capture the 'divergents', this reason is because they want to do testing on them and create a serum that can actually control their brains. The other factions are creating a plan to destroy Erudite's leader and plan on having no factions at all. There were parts of the book that surprised me pretty good, as they tell us the news that disturbed Tris a lot. The genre of this book should mostly fit into action because many of the settings and the plot of the book had many actions in it. I would recommend readers who are interested in this book (by reading the summary) to read the first book, 'Divergent' first. It would be recommended towards 12 and up as it is not appropriate for younger ages. (Ellery. Grade 7)

The book "Insurgent" by Veronica Roth is a great story. It is the second book from the series "Divergent" and continues the story of Tris and her friends who are being persecuted because they are "divergent", people who can not be controlled by the evil forces; aka the leader of Erudite. However, instead of running away from them, they head straight to the evil force. Why? What information has to be so important that Tris and her friends risk their lives for it? This book has many shocking secrets that caught me off guard. It is the perfect story for people who enjoy books with the genres of adventure and action. In this story, the author uses author craft to express the scene and relate actions to others. I would mostly recommend this novel for kids ages ten and above because it might be a bit too violent for younger ages as it includes quite a lot of fighting. I would strongly recommend that the readers start with the first book of this series not to miss out on the main storyline and details. (Nina. Grade 7)

Insurgent by Veronica Roth is the second book of the Divergent series. Tris and her friends were escaping from Erudite's attack on Divergents. They try to stay as refugees in other factions, but Erudites attack. After running away from the Erudites and Dauntless, Tris is seeking for answer to why the leader of the Erudite is trying attack and kill the Divergents. The reason had a connection with her parents sacrifice for something they were hiding. This leaves Tris shocked. I recommend this book to the ones who have finished reading Divergent and who like the genre of Science Fiction and Adventure. (Ahyun. Grade 7)
