Heidi by Johanna Spyri is a realistic fiction book. It focuses on the life of a little girl named Heidi. Her parents die when she is very young, and her aunt Dete has been looking after her. One day, aunt Dete gets a new job where she won't be able to take Heidi. So she brings her to her grandpa's house on the mountains. Everyone is afraid for Heidi, since it has been years since the grandpa vanished from the villages and ever talks to anyone. But Heidi loves it at the mountain. She makes friends with Peter, the boy who looks after the goat, and is very happy. But one day, aunt Dete comes back. She takes Heidi away without letting her say goodbye to anyone. Will Heidi be able to join her grandpa on the mountain again? I thought that this was quite a nice book, and would recommend it to someone who likes easy to read stories with happy endings. (Justine.
