Doll Bones by Holly Black is a book about three children playing a game together. The game includes some mythical creatures and one point, they have to complete a spooky quest. A doll was made with real bones. This book is quite boring because it includes minor detail which makes the pace very slow. This book does not include violence but I felt that it was quite spooky. I would not recommend this book if you are not interested in the genre of paranormal and eerie storylines. (Ahyun. Grade 8)

I read ‘Doll Bones’ by Holly Black. The genre of this book is fantasy and adventure. The storyline was really interesting because it’s about making a doll with actual bones. However, I gave this book a rating of 3 because as the story went on the story became a bit boring. I found the pace of the story too slow and easily lost my focus when reading it. I would recommend this book to readers who like stories that are kind of creepy and spooky. Personally I wish I hadn't read it because it is not my type of book. I got sucked in by the blurb. (Sebin. The novel Doll Bones by Holly Black is an intriguing combination of the Paranormal and Adventure genres. The book starts off with the three main characters playing a game together. Suddenly, they are forced into a situation where they are playing the game for the last time and have to complete a creepy quest. This book was not scary or violent, but more spooky. I personally did not really enjoy reading this book, because it was quite spooky. This type of genre is not really what I typically would read. I think the book was well written but the storyline in some parts was too far-fetched and that ended up making it confusing. Overall, I would recommend this book to people who like somewhat scary books that are suspenseful or if you like a story that is mysterious and will send chills down your spine. (Seoyeon. Grade 7)
