Dactyl Hill Squad by Daniel José Older

The book "Dactyl Hill Squad" by Daniel Jośe Older was a bit long but pretty interesting for me. The book is about the adventures of a small group of dark skinned orphans. The story is based in a recent past in the city of New York, however, it is in a different world where dinosaurs exist. The children face many challenges like getting kidnapped to be used as slaves. In the story, the main character plays a very important role in the book because, among many other reasons, she has a fantastic way to control the dinosaurs and tell them what to do. This will come in handy as we get further in to the story. The group fights many wars loosing members but finding new ones along the way. I would recommend this book to the age group around 11 and up because it might be a bit sad and long for younger ages. (Nina. Grade 7)
