Blackbird Fly by Erin Entrada Kelly is a book about a Flipino girl called Apple. Apple and her mother came to the United States after her father passed away. She has a hard time fitting in at school, especially when it comes to friendships. She is bullied by the school kids because of her ethnicity, except for one person, Evan. She was interested in the band 'Beatles' and dreams to become a guitarist. She makes two new friends, Heleena and Evan. Heleena and Evan helps Apple achieve her dream of being a guitarist. I recommend this book to students who are twelve years old and up since it is talking about the life in middle school, and it would be a bit hard for the lower ages to understand. The genre of this book is realistic fiction. (Ahyun. Grade 7)

The book "Blackbird Fly" by Erin Entrada Kelly was a good and enjoyable reading. It is about a girl called Apple and her dream of becoming a guitar player. She gets bullied and called names at school because of her looks. However, despite of the challenges she faces, she never gives up on her dream even after all she is going through. She eventually makes new friends and one of them includes a girl called Heleena who is also bullied at school. After some time, Apple and one of her other friends Evan find out a shocking secret about Heleena that will help Apple achieve her dream. This was a very nice story. I would mostly recommend this book for ages 11 and up. If you're into music, especially guitar, this book would be for you because it is based on Apple's dream, becoming a guitarist. (Nina. Grade 7)
