The book Allegiant by Veronica Roth is a dystopian novel with a mix of romance, suspense, and science fiction genre elements. The protagonist, Tris, and her friends venture outside the walls of their city - discovering a surprising secret. I enjoyed reading this novel, however it was not quite as interesting as the previous novels in this series. It didn’t contain a lot of action so it wasn’t as suspenseful. However, the ending was definitely shocking. Without spoiling the ending, the point of view shifts therefore making it more interesting because in the previous books it was only from the point of view of the protagonist, but in this story, the author gives us the perspective through another character. Overall, I would recommend this book to people who have read the previous books of this series, however, I didn’t find the ending satisfying. (Seoyeon, Grade 7)
