Winter sports is finally here and is taking place now! One of the sports that is having a good winter season so far is gymnastics. Badin Gymnastics has already had two meets and they did very well.
Clearly now, things are different with Covid protocol, but the Badin gymnastics team has been doing everything they can to have a normal season. Junior Gracie Combs, a gymnast on the team, was willing to share her thoughts about how the team has changed since covid has taken place other than previous years.
“A few things that are different this year are the meets and not having family cheering you on. Other things that are different are the newer rules that have been in place because of covid have changed as well,” Combs said.
Some things have changed, but not all things. Of course at practice everyone must wear a mask and practice social distancing, but nothing really has changed other than following COVID protocol.
“I believed that practices would be different with having masks and changing our location, but nothing has really changed,” Combs said. “With the changing of the practice times and location I was worried the team would actually be much smaller than the amount we have now,” Combs said.
Now that the season has started and the gymnastics team is a few meets in, the excitement of the new season is finally setting in, Combs had shared her thoughts on what her favorite part was.
“My favorite part is getting to know the girls and learning about them. I also like helping with encouraging and cheering on everyone this year,” Combs said.
She has her goals set high and she is looking forward to multiple parts of this season.
I have been looking forward to upgrading skills and getting to know the newer girls on the team,” Combs said.
