The student body and faculty got to walk through the new Student Development Center Monday. This was the first time anyone has been inside since the construction started last year, and from what everyone has seen so far, the new building was well worth the investment.
The counselors now have some new space to work with their students, and this now provides a place for teachers to hold classes. The first impressions were through the roof.
Mr. Murrell, head of maintenance at Badin, was very impressed with how the construction worked out.
“I think everything went very well, and I’ve been beside the construction the whole time. I really like how it turned out, and I really like how spacious the interior is. I really think it will help with the college admissions process and help the kids get scholarships. It really will be beneficial for student growth," Murrell said.
A fellow student at Badin High had nothing but good things to say about the building as well.
“I really think that since it’s my senior year, this will be beneficial for the college process. There is now a designated spot to focus on our future as students, and I can’t wait to be in there more,” senior Jack Grimm said.
Grimm says he was one of the first at school on Monday, so he got to see the delightful scene before someone spoiled any details.
“This is the first place I’ll go if I ever need to get some work done after school. My favorite spot in the building would have to be the lobby. The look is great as well, as it’s a very modern design that is very fresh to the eye. I don’t see any cons to the new Development Center, and I really think that it will attract new students to the school,” Grimm said.
Both were asked if they would rather have the new addition, or revert back to the old setup near the PFAC. Both Murrell and Grimm preferred the new Development Center to stay, as it seems that a majority of the students and faculty are cheerful about the decision.
Last year as a whole, the Ramily seemed shaky about how the new addition would turn out. Although a bit time consuming, it seems the construction turned out just as planned.
