Mission
The Public Safety Regional Director is responsible for facilitating shared efforts to improve the performance of all Law Enforcement (police, probation, corrections), Administration of Justice, Fire Technology, Fire Academy, Forestry, EMR, EMT and Paramedic, and other programs considered part of public safety or allied health in the San Francisco Bay Region. The Regional Director will strategically respond to significant labor market trends, engaging industry and labor participation, and leading collaborative efforts by colleges and workforce development partners to achieve the region’s workforce goals, and increase student graduation and employment rates.

Public safety professions are highly competitive. It is important to have both education AND training to ensure success.
Local colleges offers the necessary Associate Degrees throughout the Bay Region to make accessing courses easier and more convenient.
BACCC Accredited Police Academies

Agency Police Academies are generally presented to support a specific agency's need for newly employed personnel. Some agency academies do allow for a minimum number self-sponsored student enrollments.

FIRE ACADEMIES

Fire academies fall into two different categories: Accredited Local Academies (ALAs) presented by industry partners, and Accredited Regional Training Programs (ARTPs) presented by community colleges.
ALAs are presented to support a specific agency's need for newly employed personnel. ARTPs are presented to meet the needs of self-sponsored student enrollments and may include sponsored students.
*It is important to ensure the academy is accredited or can demonstrate compliance with State Fire Training requirements to allow for Certification Testing at an approved site.

Public safety career have very strict employment requirements and the sooner students begin the public safety & service journey, the more successful they will be.
The Bay Region have a large selection of K-12 programs to assist in reaching our youth and getting them engaged with their communities early in life. These programs lead directly into the local community colleges and and support recruitment opportunities for industry partners.
