General Screen/Acting for Screen - Class Structure
20 minute Warm Up and Technique Exercises
40 minute Scene Study (exploring scenes breakdown, beats, character and intention.)
60 minutes Rehearsing and Shooting
Warm up and technique helps you get to know your voice and body and how to work with them safely and effectively. Through games, improvisations and exercises you will learn techniques to improve your performance.
We then work on scenes from a variety of television series and movies, looking for clues for character, genre and intention as we break down the scene, investigating our who, what, where, and why. Scene partners are allocated and scenes rehearsed.
Shooting time. The filming of the scenes will be run like a professional set (minus the 40+ crew) as we record the scene on our purpose built set. It's invaluable to integrate the action of movement, thought, intention, working with props and of course, the speaking of lines. Students will learn all of this while taking direction, hitting their marks and giving authentic performances.
Playback. We look back and discuss the work either as a group with feedback from the teacher or you can watch privately at home. It’s a great way to get instant feedback to help improve and see your growth over time.
"This screen acting studio has been excellent for my 13-year-old. They use real scripts and film scenes like a TV series, giving students practical experience. My daughter loves it - she's learning, having fun, and gaining confidence. The professional approach sets this school apart. "
