I feel as if my entire life has undoubtedly guided me to helping others both personally and professionally. Much of that is within the military culture, having first hand knowledge of some of the challenges service members and their families face. My style of counseling is embodied by unwavering warmth and compassion. I am dedicated to enriching our beautiful and unique community the most effective way I know how, through healing the past and guiding relationships with loved ones.
Population: adults, individuals, couples, families, veterans, first responders
Areas of expertise: relationship and family dynamics, communication, sex & intimacy, betrayal, affairs, domestic violence, separation, anxiety, depression, trauma
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is supported by decades of research and helps couples and families develop healthy and secure bonds. This approach allows loved ones to break free from patterns of disconnection and conflict, fostering a secure connection built on openness and closeness.
EFT helps couples address recurring negative interactions and unresolved issues that lead to feelings of isolation and disconnection. Counseling goals include teaching couples how to communicate effectively, reduce tension, actively listen, resolve past issues, support each other's relationship needs, and deepen their connection.
Additional areas of focus include building relationship security, creating a safe environment for vulnerability, fostering acceptance, strengthening trust, enhancing teamwork and partnership, and deepening intimacy. EFT focuses on healing underlying issues and establishing a positive feedback loop, equipping couples and families with the tools and skills to navigate future challenges together.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidence-based technique that helps individuals overcome the lasting effects of hardship and adversity. ART utilizes eye movements and voluntary image replacement to resolve past traumas quickly and effectively. This approach differs from traditional talk therapy by providing direct relief from emotional and behavioral ruts without the risk of retraumatization. By targeting the root cause of the issue, ART helps individuals update their internal "software" for a more effective and fulfilling life.
A trauma informed approach is based on trust, collaboration, and empowerment. We will work together to find ways for you to take control, instead of being controlled by fight, flight, freeze, or fawn responses of the nervous system. This is achieved through a combination of education about trauma, focusing on physical sensations, breaking the internal spiral, honoring the past while learning to be in the present, and developing tools to navigate challenges.

Why don't you take insurance or EAP's?
Insurance often limits counseling in a way that hinders progress with couples and families. A diagnosis is also required for one person in the relationship as relationship issues are not covered. Employee Assistance Programs (EAP's) typically cover a few sessions and are meant for short term change focused on quick solutions. Contact your insurance or EAP to find providers in network.
Do you see individuals?
Yes, I utilize an attachment based approach for both individuals and with relationships.
How long does counseling take?
The length of services will be determined collaboratively. The number of sessions are based upon factors such as severity and history of symptoms, frequency between sessions, and readiness for change. Unfortunately there are too many variables to predict how many session are needed.
How often do you recommend we meet?
At first there may be a frequency of once a week to every other week. Once there is sustained progress, services typically titrate down to monthly, or 6-8 weeks to maintenance.
Anything you don't work with?
Unfortunately I do not provide services for substance abuse, polyamory relationships, or children.
