Mote
Mote is a favorite of mine. It allows the user to create 30 seconds of audio which you can embed in google docs and google slides. I use this daily to leave audio instructions in all my digital learning, I comment on students work and have noticed that the students are more engaged in the feedback when it's audio not written in their books. YOu can upgrade your MOTE and pay a subscription to leave longer audio messages.
Screencastify
Screencastify has been valuable to not only leave instructions but to show the steps. This has also been a helpful tool during the COVID 19 lockdowns. We used this to create video messages for whānau to help support them with their child's learning, how to navigate our school Google site and explain the expectations of online learning. The videos are not high quality but do a good job.
Voice Typing
Voice typing is a great tool especially for our Dyslexic students. It enables them to get the ideas out of their head and removes the barriers of writing. For our learners we have noticed that it is not a good pick for some ASD students as their accents can be hard to pick up, and can be translated wrong. You can adjust the accent but we have experimented and like all assistive technology it is trail and era to find what suits each student.
Read & Write Google Extension
Read & write is another great extension. I have used it mostly for the read part, the students use this to help with editing or when researching a topic. You can highlight an area and it will be read to you.
Jamboard
Jamboard is a digital whiteboard but with more features.
