SPRING ASSESSMENTS
Our Arizona Statewide Assessments are coming up soon. Below is some information to help you understand about the different assessments and how it's important for your child's educational needs.
Arizona Science Test (AzSCI)
The AzSCI assessment will be administered to students in grades 5 and 8 March 28, 29, and 30.
Arizona’s Academic Standards Assessment (AASA)
All students in Grades 3 - 8 will take the grade level AASA assessments in English Language Arts and Mathematics starting April 4.

Colton C. - 2nd Grade
Colton always does his best even when he has a challenging job. Colton really shows what it means to ROAR. He is always kind to others in the classroom and on the playground. He is helpful and will offer to help anyone that needs a hand. Colton has a positive attitude that is like sunshine. He tries to help others see the bright side of things. He cares about his school work and it shows. He cares for his fellow students too and is supportive to all. It is for these reasons and so many others that we nominate him for Robles student of the month.
Robles Elementary All-Star Staff of the Month
Erika DeLa Paz, Kindergarten Teacher
Erika has been with our district for three years. She came in from the Philippines ready to learn and work! Mrs. Dela Paz has always been a hard worker. She has tackled the 21st Century in the mornings and afternoons. She has brought Modern Dance to Robles, and children from all grade levels enjoy learning new dances, staying fit, and working together at fun events the district hosts. Mrs. Dela Paz stays late to support Kinder students, as well as upper-grade level students, in learning how to read by providing phonological practices, phonics, sight word review, and reading of stories and passages. Mrs. Dela Paz has participated and supported math lessons and practices from the IMPACTS program, as well as attending PD opportunities outside of her work schedule. Erika has always brought spunk and fun to her children and the other kinder class, as well. She is creative, very loyal, and is open to trying new things to help her students. She is innovative and always tweaking and trying new ways to support her students and kinder team. Mrs. Dela Paz looks at the bright side of things, her positivity and friendship supports so many of her colleagues. She is always stretching herself and working so hard to be better for her students and team here at Robles. Not only does she do all of this, she does it all with such a humble heart. We admire her greatly because of her strong work ethic, her kindness, her friendship, and her fun ideas like dancing The Cha Cha Slide in front of each other! We love you, Mrs. Dela Paz!!
Altar Valley Middle School All-Star Student of the Month
Alaya S. - 8th Grade
Students at AVMS grow and excel in a variety of ways and Alaya is no different. When she started at AVMS as a 5th grader she was learning her way and taking risks with challenges that she met along the way. When she started her journey at middle school she was quiet and reserved. After a few weeks, she let her personality show through. Her playfulness is a bright light and brings joy to the school day. She loves her family very much. She has worked very hard to overcome challenges that present themselves daily. It has not all been smooth sailing. She has had days where she had a good cry and wanted to give up. After a pep talk and reminder of how far she has come, then she would grit her teeth and with a determined look on her face, she would give it all she had. Alaya has been a true inspiration. She shows us what capable of everyday. Now she holds her head up; she sings and is even starting to dance; she is now able to stand up and take steps with her gait trainer for support and she is able to communicate with eye gazes and her communication device. She works at increasing her abilities daily. She is one of the hardest working students at AVMS. We are so proud of all she has accomplished! Alaya is the epitome of what it means to SOAR!
Altar Valley Middle School All-Star Staff of the Month
Katie Nicholas,
When you look up dedicated in the dictionary it says, wholly committed to a particular course of thought or action; devoted. That describes Katie to a “T”! She is passionate about teaching and learning. She is the first to offer suggestions of ways to provide experiences for our students. She serves on the leadership team, is the NJHS sponsor, serves on the Superintendent Advisory Council and on the PBIS team. Not to mention an amazing 7th grade math teacher! As if that wasn’t enough she is the 21st Century Coordinator. She has grown our program this year with new offerings that engage students in the arts as well as academics. Katie is a team player; always offering suggestions to help her students and peers succeed and grow. She does all of these things with a smile and pep in her step that are positively contagious!
