A group of staff members and RBS families have been working all year to help revitalize Blazer's Trail. Now more than ever, it is so important to find ways to help our students unplug and destress. Just do a Google search on the benefits of exposing young children to nature - the statistics are clear. Children need more time outside. And I cannot think of a better way to accomplish that than a visit to our amazing nature trail.
This fall, a small group worked to "re-blaze" the trail to avoid walking students through the residential area on the backside of the trail. The new map takes a left turn at the Forest Animals kiosk and through what is now arguably the prettiest part of the trail. The new map has been added to the trailhead sign as you enter. And we are in the process of adding green arrow trail markers to help guide you along the trail.
Another improvement you will notice as you exit the Larry Sparks Outdoor Classroom is the installation of a little lending library. This library was built and installed by the Yoreo family. It is filled with nature themed books for anyone to enjoy on their visit to the trail. Feel free to take one and leave one if you'd like!
And finally, the Story Hike. This may be the best reason to visit the trail during the next few weeks. The kids love reading the pages of the book as they walk along the trail.
We hope you take some time to visit Blazer's Trail!
