Athletics & Activities Return Process

Knight High School is pleased to announce that we are beginning preparations to allow students the opportunity to come back on campus this summer in order to participate in Athletics and Activities. This will consist of a Three-Phased return with an emphasis on safety. Before getting into specifics, we want to emphasize a couple of very important things.

As part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District, Knight High School will adhere to guidance by the State and County with regards to gatherings. Our adopted phases will evolve or retract as LA County evolves or retracts.

Along with the AVUHSD, and as a member of the Golden League, it is our conviction is that high school athletes have benefitted in countless ways from high school-sponsored athletics and activities since the very founding of CIF in 1913 and that these benefits have not gone away with the outbreak of COVID-19. The physical activity and training that comes with athletics and activities are essential components to the physical, mental, and social well-being of students. We believe an essential part of educating the “whole-child” is to develop a plan for athletics to resume in the 2020-2021 school year.

Activities Return Process 2020-2021

Students that are interested in participating in Cheer or Dance must have a physical exam and maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA every quarter. The two-sided physical exam form must be completed and signed by a physician as well as signed by a parent/guardian. You may email the form to dgoree@avhsd.org or make an appointment to drop it off upon completion. Please follow the instructions listed below to complete the Activities Clearance process. Should you have any questions, you can reach the Activities Office through the above email or by phone at 661-533-9000 ext. 187.

*For students that want to participate in an athletic sport in addition to Cheer or Dance, they must complete the Athletic Clearance process SEPERATELY. You can find the Athletic Clearance process here.

1. Download/print the AVUHSD Cheer and Dance Physical Form. In pen, fill out the “Student Information” section. Next, have a physician fill out the “Pre-participation Physical Evaluation” section. Then, with the help of your parent/guardian fill out the remainder of the form (front and back).

2. Read the mandatory form Concussion Information Sheet or Concussion Information Sheet Spanish

3. Download/print the Concussion Acknowledgement Form. In pen, have a parent/guardian sign the form acknowledging they have read and understand it.

4. Check over ALL of your documents. Your clearance packet should consist of your Cheer/Dance physical form and your Concussion Acknowledgement form. Look over both the front and the back and make sure EVERYTHING is filled out/signed IN PEN. Forms filled out/signed in pencil will be returned BEFORE being cleared and will need to be returned in pen.

5. COVID SAFETY PRECAUTION: Once you complete both forms, for no contact, you can email your completed documents to dgoree@avhsd.org. If you want to drop it off in person, you must call to schedule an appointment. If you do not have an appointment we will not take your packet.
