Chemistry Heroes

Scientist

It's important to know the lives of scientist and what they did because they deserve credit. It wouldn't be fair to not give credit to the scientist that help make this world what it is. We need to know about their lives because it motivates us to see how much they grew from the problems in their lives.

A hero to me

Out of all the people that I know in my life my hero is Miss Gillissen. She is such an amazing role model to me. She is a young drama teacher who has taught me that no matter how much you don't like someone you have to act professional. She has gone through so many obstacles in her life and to see how she has prospered through it has been very eye opening to me.

Democritus

Democritus was an Ancient Greek pre-Socratic philosopher. He was best known for the contribution of the Atomic theory to the history of Chemistry. He stated that Matter is composed of atoms separated by empty space through which the atoms move. Atoms are solid, homogeneous, indivisible, and unchangeable.

John Dalton

John Dalton was an English chemist, physicist, and meteorologist. he was best known for introducing the Atomic Theory into Chemistry. He is also known for his research on colour blindness. John Dalton proposed that all matter is composed of very small things which he called atoms.

J J Thomson

J J Thomson was an English physicist and Nobel Laureate in Physics. Thomson was best known for identifying and discovering electrons. J J Thomson discovered the electron by proposing the plum pudding model of the atom. he discovered electrons before discovering the atomic nucleus.

Dmitri Mendeleev

Dmitri Mendeleev was Russian chemist. Dmitri Mendeleev was known as the most important contributor to the periodic table. He organized the periodic table into rows and columns. He organized rows by atomic mass. He organized columns by chemical and physical properties. He also left space for future discoveries.

Gold Foil Experiment

The scientist who came up with the gold foil experiment was Ernest Rutherford. Rutherford discover the nucleus of an atom. Rutherford conducted his experiment by having hot a beam of alpha particles shot at a sheet of gold foil. Only a few of the particles were deflected. He concluded that a tiny, dense nucleus was causing the deflections.
