Second Chance Month

What is Second Chance Month?

"A nationwide effort to raise awareness of the collateral consequences of a criminal conviction, and unlock second-chance opportunities for people who have completed their sentences to become contributing citizens."

The National Reentry Resource Center (NRRC) "is the nation's primary source of information and guidance in reentry."

In honor of Second Chance Month, the NRRC will host resources, podcasts, videos, and webinars on a "range of topics essential to successful reentry."

The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL) promotes Second Chance Month to "raise awareness about the obstacles faced by over 70 million Americans with a criminal record and unlock opportunities for them to succeed." Visit this page to access free webinars, volunteer opportunities, information on related federal legislations, and recordings of previous events. (Registration is free, but required.)

The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) will be offering live learning events, videos, podcasts, and publications in support of Second Chance Month. See the Programs that Support Reentry overview for more information.

For more resources on this topic and beyond, check out ACC Library Services catalog or "Ask A Librarian!"
