Frequently Asked Questions:
What is Registered Apprenticeship?
Registered Apprenticeship is a work-based training model that combines paid On-the-Job Training (OJT) with Related Technical - or “classroom” - Instruction (RTI). Both elements of the program are completed at the same time, and apprentices are eligible to receive pay increases as certain milestones are reached.
Apprenticeship is a great tool for identifying and rewarding high-performing employees and moving them up a career ladder. The “earn and learn” aspect of the program is greatly beneficial to the apprentices, as well, as they are able to receive a paycheck while learning skills relevant to their ultimate career goals
What are my obligations as an Apprentice?
As stated, apprenticeship is a model of training that allows individuals to work and attend training at the same time. Since apprentices are paid staff, they first and foremost must demonstrate professional behavior and maintain eligibility for employment at all times.
As part of the apprenticeship agreement, apprentices will also be responsible for completing coursework according to the agreed upon schedule.
The goal of the program is for all apprentices to become skilled as Bookkeepers.
