You may be surprised to find that accounting is the right choice for you. Here's a few questions to ask yourself:
Do I like solving puzzles or other problems?
Do I like organization? Do I like for everything to be in its proper place?
Would I describe myself as detail oriented?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, Accounting might be the right career fit for you.
No Campus Required. Our Accounting Technician courses are all online. That doesn't mean you don't have access to an instructor. Most instructors host a weekly live classroom session via Zoom or another telecommunications platform. You will be able to ask questions and get feedback live. For those that do not host a live session, video content is provided. You never have to drive to a campus. However, if you are having technical issues, or just want a quiet place to work, each campus has resources like the Accelerator at the Highland Campus or the tutoring centers where you can work and get assistance if needed.
Free Dedicated Tutoring. One great feature our Technician program has is a dedicated tutor who is trained to assist you with your specific course contents.
8 Week Classes. Your classes will typically be 8 weeks or 1/2 of a traditional semester in length. This will allow you to complete your program at an accelerated rate.
Work At Your Own Pace. Our classes are designed using the Competency Based Education model. Within this model, you are able to work at your own pace during the 8 weeks. If you already have a certain skill (competency) you can "test out" of that skill by taking a pre-test. If you are still learning and mastering a skill, you can complete the coursework at your own pace with all assignments and exams due at the end of the 8 weeks. You can find more about our mode here: https://sites.google.com/austincc.edu/accounting-technicians/competency-based-education
