CLASS DOJO or EMAIL
The 5th grade teachers use both to communicate. Ms. Chang tends to use Class Dojo for small reminders or announcements. If there is a lot of information that needs to be shared, it may be sent through email.

5th Grade is the year of transition as they will be entering middle school the following year!
Having students do household chores, find a balance for screen time, finding interests of their own, staying active are all ways to help them out. Help them by coming up with strategies on how to prioritize, practice time management, and figuring out what is the best way to organize are important as well!
Goals for Students
Develop Responsibility
Increase Independence
Strive for Greatness
Build Community
Choose Kindness
Cultivate Healthy Habits
The homework agenda will be posted in the Homeroom in Schoology where students and parents can easily access. It may be updated on a daily basis due to other subjects or unfinished assignments.
The digital weekly homework consists of:
Wordly Wise (in Schoology, but there is a physical packet of the word lists)
Math Assignment (in Schoology)
Geography (Schoology)
The weekly homework is automatically graded and it gives students opportunities to check their mistakes and redo it for a better score. This also helps with reducing the weight in their backpacks. We also want to save our trees!
Other additional assignments may depend on the teachers, which is why it is important for students to practice checking the homework agenda.
SCHOOLOGY!
This is where the teachers will post grades, assignments, and upcoming tests/projects, etc.
Let the office and Ms. Chang know
Email Sherri Terhost in the office sterhost@ausd.net and Ms. Chang tchang@ausd.net. If it is on a rotation day (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), it will be much appreciated if you let the other teachers know as well!
Check Schoology
Your child can check Ms. Chang's homework agenda (in the Homeroom Schoology course) to see if there is anything posted and/or check the courses in Schoology to see if the other teachers have posted something. Your child should be the one emailing the teachers about the missing assignments are.
During class, we will be taking notes in our math notebooks. Students can use this for review and when they are completing their homework.
I have created a resource for the students that they can view in the math course on Schoology. It includes video tutorials and the answer key for them to check their answers. If students ever are absent, they can view this at home as well.
The requirement is to complete the Problem Set pages and Zearn (online homework). Khan Academy is completely optional but it can be used for extra practice or review.
Ms. Chang does not teach these three subjects. Usually the students will know what the assignments are better than Ms. Chang. If you have any questions, please email or send a Class Dojo message to the other teachers below.
