My mission within my classroom is to build a sense of community, trust, and support so students feel safe and free to engage, explore, inquire, and expand their horizons; in other words, to learn and to grow.
My mission as a teacher of Humanities and of the Arts is to emphasize the connectivity that we, as humans, share and have shared throughout the ages; that we are more alike than different, and yet our differences are what make the world so colorful and fascinating. Through Ancient History and Literature and the Arts alike, I want to show that we can and should learn from our history, yet we are not defined by it. Our choices determine our individual paths, and each one matters.
My mission as a shaper of future generations is to send my kids out into their next ventures in life more confident in themselves and their abilities, more independent, more responsible, more compassionate, and more curious about the world around them and all it can teach them.
