Returning to School

It is without a doubt that this pandemic has left many people in search of normalcy. Part of achieving that feeling of "normal" is having kids back in classrooms. The state and county have established a complex and frequently changing set of regulations and requirements for schools to reopen for in-person instruction. AUSD parents have made it clear they want the choice to either send their children to school or to remain learning from home for the remainder of the 2020-21 school year. We are committed to allowing parents to make this important choice with as much information as possible.

AUSD district administration, principals, and members from the Arcadia Teachers Union have been meeting to make practical sense of the rules to reopen, ensure COVID-19 safety protocols are in place, and develop possible schedules for an optimal learning environment for both those that want to return to in-person instruction and those that prefer to continue with virtual instruction. Parent input was gathered to better inform planning and decision-making. Learn more about the various options for elementary and secondary below.

Right at School

Beginning March 16 and until April 12, our partners at Right at School will welcome students to join a learning pod or afternoon on-campus enrichment opportunities. The Arcadia Unified school sites, Highland Oaks, Camino Grove, and Hugo Reid Elementary Schools, that this programming will be offered at were selected based on parent interest, equity, and location, as well as the amount of indoor/outdoor space available on campus.

Beginning April 12, there will be free after-school care for those families electing to return their students to in-person instruction through Right at School. Arcadia Unified will be paying for Right at School’s after-school program as an additional support for the scheduling needs of families that select in-person learning for the remainder of this school year. We are also offering this free service to our remarkable staff. Right at School will be reaching out to families soon with more information.
