Intro to Guitar

Students will learn how to play the following chords: D, G and A7 (the D progression); A, D and E7 (the A progression) and G, C and D7 (the G progression.) They will learn how to accompany themselves or others when singing using a straight forward strumming pattern or by using the lo-hi strum, down-up strum or root strum. Students will learn how to read the treble clef and will be able to play in rhythms using quarter notes, half notes, eighth notes and whole notes and their rest equivalents. In addition to playing in unison, students will begin to play in two and three part harmony. A performance in the Winter Concert or Arts Night is a requirement for this course.
