8th grade career trek

On October 14, Ms. Erickson and Ms. Stephens attended the Especially Me Conference. The conference emphasizes the importance of personal self-worth and self-value for African American young ladies. North student, Triniti Thorpe, was one of the young ladies who received an award for demonstrating these characteristics. The day included guest speakers who talked about obstacles they have overcome and the importance of goal-setting. Ms. Stephens brought her daughter with her and although she wasn't happy to get up early on Saturday, she talked Ms. Stephens' ears off on the way home about the topics they discussed in her sessions! Ms. Stephens and Ms. Erickson highly recommend this conference to anyone who is interested in attending next year.
