Jewell Library and Technology

Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! My name is Pam Candelaria and I love working with our Jewell Scholars (and an occasional golden eagle) in the library and tech lab!

The Jewell Library has thousands of books at all reading levels to help your child find a "just right" book that he or she will love reading!

Jewell Scholars will visit the library once a week with their classroom teacher to check out books. Kindergarten students may check out one book at a time, and 1st through 5th grade students may check out two books at a time. The checkout period is two weeks. Overdue notices will be sent home monthly, and all overdue books must be returned before scholars can check out additional items.

Exciting tech news! Jewell Elementary was selected to receive a Dremel 3D printer as part of the GE Additive Education Program! This means our students will have the opportunity to learn about 3D design and many will be able to print their own 3D objects. We are all excited to see how we can incorporate this technology into our scholars' learning!

3rd, 4th, and 5th graders will have technology class in 1st semester.

We will be working on:

  • Typing skills
  • Using the Google for Education suite (docs, slides, gmail, etc.)
  • Polar Cloud, Makers Empire, TinkerCad, and/or other 3D design and printing utilities
  • Information literacy and digital citizenship

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd graders will have technology class in 2nd semester.

We will be working on:

  • Essential computer skills like mousing, basic keyboarding, and navigating websites
  • Introduction to block code with
  • Introduction to 3D designs and printing
  • Foundational knowledge of information literacy and digital citizenship

I will be working on bringing programmable robots, 3Doodler pens, unique makerspace activities, and other engaging technology-related activities for all of our scholars!

Please feel free to reach out any time:
