Taranaki Cross Country
26th September, 2018
Below is the team for the Taranaki Cross Country. Due to some close finishes and sicknesses, we have added a few names more than the 6 students we were looking at taking for each age group. In some instances where the fifth and sixth runners have finished further back, we have not selected students as this course is more challenging than what the students have run up until now.
We will need transport, so if you can help out (or if you are planning on taking your child straight there), can you contact the school.
Wednesday 26th September 2018. There is no postponement date. This event will proceed unless weather is extreme. For any postponement enquiries contact Richard Brewer on 027 209 4192 between 6:30-7:30am on the day.

The course needs to be cleared by 10:50 for the start of the first race. Competitors compete at own risk.
Please ensure all competitors have their allocated number in large, clear writing on their hand. Black vivid is a good idea. Please underline numbers that have a 6 or 9. Please do not swap numbers between children, we are happy to give new numbers to extras prior to or on the day.
Medals will be presented to 1st , 2nd & 3rd place in each event & presented as soon as possible after each race. TEAMS AWARD “School Teams Challenge” To be presented to the school with the lowest combined score of the first 4 runners across the line in each race. One trophy per race to be presented and kept by the school with certificates for the runners. Note: These may not be awarded on the day.
Runners must follow the course markers – run between two flags or be within 5m of a single flag. Runners must always follow the instructions of the course marshals. As runners finish they will be guided into a roped funnel by marshals and must stay in order. There is to be NO PACING of children, this means you cannot run with a child in any race. Note: Failure to observe race rules will lead to disqualification.
Children should come ready to run their race. Toilet and changing facilities are available in the Expo Hall.
Cold drinks, bread rolls, pies, potato chips and a few sweet treats will be available in the Hawera Harrier Club Rooms facing onto the finishing arena.
St John’s will be present during the event.
