School Uniform

The uniform gives a sense of belonging. It allows all children to be equally well dressed. Students are expected to wear the uniform when attending school and are required to wear it smartly with credit to themselves and the school.

There is to be no labelled/branded clothing worn e.g. “Canterbury track pants”.

If uniform is sourced from other areas it must be identical to what is provided by the school.

All belongings must be well named.

General Appearance

Students’ hair is to be tidy, off the face and of a natural colour. Students will be encouraged to tie long hair back. The only jewellery permitted is a wrist watch and studs or sleepers (plain gold / silver) may be worn in ears. No makeup permitted unless permission granted for special events such as school plays.

Taonga is approved to be worn as long as it is tucked under polo shirt.

School Hats

It is compulsory that students wear the official Auroa Primary School hat when outside doing Physical Education, and at interval and lunchtimes during the summer months. Circumstances are taken into consideration for sport practices and games if sun block is used. Hats are available for purchase through Karams Clothing.

During lunchtimes, if children are playing sports such as rugby, they are required to bring another set of clothes to school to wear during the lunchtime period only. This will prevent damage happening to the school uniform.

Consequences if out of uniform

  1. Unexplained absences of uniform, parents are contacted immediately, asked for an explanation and students need to be in the correct uniform the next day. If not in uniform the next day parents will be contacted and students sent home.
  2. If uniform is lost/misplaced it must be replaced within 2 weeks - or at a time negotiated with the Principal.
  3. If children are not in proper uniform after that period the Principal has discretion to stand down the student from school until the correct uniform is worn.

Individual circumstances will be taken into consideration
