We are proud to report that 17 students earned Shasta College credit by scoring 80% or higher on their end-of-year Biology exam. This accomplishment reflects both their hard work and academic dedication.
A special thank you and congratulations to Mr. Greeley for his outstanding instruction and support in helping students achieve this milestone.
Yesterday, students in Mrs. Bowerman’s class participated in an injection lab, where they learned how to administer different types of injections and discussed methods of disease prevention. This hands-on experience supports career readiness and deepens understanding of public health practices.
This week in Chemistry, students applied stoichiometry concepts by making s’mores to explore the idea of limiting reagents. This engaging, hands-on activity helped students visualize and better understand a key principle of chemical reactions in a fun and memorable way.
Students in Ms. Bowerman’s class participated in a hands-on science activity where they made ice cream while learning about the dairy industry and the chemical states of matter—this interactive lesson combined real-world applications with science standards, making learning both fun and meaningful.
Earlier this month, a few of our dedicated members of the National Honor Society lent a hand at North Cottonwood School to support their annual Rodeo BBQ. Together, they helped prepare and serve over 800 plates for the community while also providing meals to the students of North Cottonwood.
A huge thank you to Principal Cole for the invitation and opportunity to be part of such a wonderful event!
Over Memorial Day Weekend, the West Valley Key Club once again volunteered at the Shasta Renaissance Faire, marking the fourth consecutive year of their involvement. Club members dedicated their time and energy to help support the event's operations, contributing to its ongoing success and creating a fun, engaging atmosphere for the community. Their continued commitment to service exemplifies the Key Club’s mission of leadership and community involvement.
Due to limited time for drying and firing, students will complete non-ceramic projects this term in Ms. Reyhers Class. These include a Cherokee double-wall basket and a wooden sculpture inspired by the work of Deborah Butterfield. Both projects are completed in teams, emphasizing essential skills such as communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, design creativity, and collaboration.
