Mrs. Kerr's English students are actively collaborating on a mini-essay response, analyzing and reflecting on a poem they read in class.
The ASVAB is scheduled for December 10th and will take place in the library, starting during 2nd period.
The ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) is a valuable tool for assessing students' strengths and helping them explore career options in the military and civilian sectors. It provides insight into skills like math, science, and mechanical comprehension, aiding in informed career and education decisions. The test is free and beneficial for all students, regardless of military interest.
We’re excited to report that our current enrollment has grown to 736 students and continues to rise! Our average daily attendance stands at 96.88% as of 10/23, with an impressive 223 students maintaining perfect attendance since the start of the school year. We’re proud of our students’ dedication and commitment!
We are excited to announce the launch of the Eagle Vision after-school program, starting with a BBQ Kick-Off on November 1st! This program is free for all students and will feature various games and activities. The learning PODS will begin on Monday, November 4th. Stay tuned for more details!
College Application Workshops were held all day (except during 5th period) in the counseling office on October 22nd. They will be held again on November 12th for seniors who need assistance with filling out college applications.
Our WV counselors are taking students on a tour of Chico State University this Friday, October 25th. This visit aims to allow the students to explore the Chico campus life and learn more about what the school has to offer academically.
Our 1st Annual Homecoming Parade was a great success, with valuable lessons learned along the way. We excelled in many areas and identified growth opportunities. The event was filled with fun, and the turnout exceeded our expectations. The community came out in full support, making us feel truly appreciated and loved as Eagles.
West Valley kicked off Red Ribbon Week on Wednesday, October 23rd, with students and faculty proudly wearing WV swag to support Eagle Pride and promote a drug-free future. This demonstrated that the Eagles don’t let their future go up in smoke!
Shasta County Health and Human Services Agency visited West Valley High School to engage students in an interactive road safety presentation during lunch. Students participated in a 'Spin the Wheel' questionnaire, answering questions about safe driving habits. Prizes were awarded to participants, making the event both fun and educational. We are grateful to Shasta County Health and Human Services and Officer Morton for promoting the importance of road safety in our school community.
On October 14th, West Valley FFA hosted a Fall Festival, welcoming young children from the community to explore the world of agriculture. Participants engaged in hands-on activities such as branding, roping, and interacting with farm animals. The day was filled with fun games, hot chocolate, and valuable lessons on farming. The festival educated the next generation about agriculture and strengthened community ties and appreciation for our farmers. We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this event and look forward to watching these young agricultural enthusiasts grow into future leaders. Thanks to Evergreen and North Cottonwood students for joining us on the farm and Hawes and Nash Ranch for donating over 130 pumpkins for the event.
OCTOBER FFA MEETING
West Valley FFA held a successful October meeting. Members enjoyed nachos, dressed in Halloween costumes, and participated in fun mini-games. It was a festive and engaging way to celebrate the season as a chapter. We're looking forward to the next event!

Congratulations to the JV boys for securing 1st place in the NAL! The varsity girls finished 2nd place, while the varsity boys placed 3rd. Additionally, the JV girls achieved 2nd place. All athletes performed exceptionally well, and the school community is incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication!

We are proud to announce that our Girls' Varsity Tennis Team has been crowned NAL Champions! Their exceptional performances at the NAL Individual Championships this past weekend solidified this accomplishment.
Additionally, the team continued to shine in the CIF Section playoffs, securing a 6-3 victory over Corning in the first round. The entire team displayed remarkable skill, determination, and teamwork, exemplifying the true spirit of West Valley athletics.
