AUHS Weekly Report
January 9th, 2025
LCAP Goal #1. Anderson Union High School District students will be college or career ready upon graduation.
Attendance
AUHS enrollment is currently 554 students with ~95% attendance rate for the first week of January. Attendance is important because better attendance translate into greater student acheivement and higher state funding that will be spend on our students.
Feeder School Offerings
Mr. Safford will be meeting with AMS Superintendent Jason Provence on Jan. 14 to discuss a collaboration with AUHS for future Agriculture and Algebra1 Math offerings.
STROP
AUHS counselors and principal will attend the annual STROP luncheon & program update meeting on Thursday January 16th.
Our leadership class is prepping for Winter Homecoming (January 21st-24th). The homecoming rally will take place on January 24th. We will also be hosting 8th grade introduction on January 24th where 8th graders come up to the high school to preview some of the courses Anderson provides as well as experience a homecoming rally.
Counselors are re-entering students returning from other sites at the DSST, and making necessary schedule changes. Counselors will be having a district collaboration and meeting with SCOE regarding Community Connect.
Culinary
The culinary teachers and principals from AUHS and WVHS have set the date for the first annual AUHSD Culinary Contest. This competition will be held on Friday, May 2nd from 11:30am-1:00pm. The host site will rotate on an annual basis, with this year's 2025 competition being held at West Valley and the 2026 competition at AUHS. All rules for this competition are still being developed.
Cub Connection will continue in the new year with Academic Supports, Physical Fitness and Enriching activities.
AUHS is happy to have our beloved Upward Bound Advisor, Pam Dunlap, back on campus after two surgeries. Mrs. Dunlap has her students setting academic and personal goals for the second semester. The Summer Program is shaping up nicely using student suggestions of college campuses to visit this year as well as curriculum they are interested in. There is a big group of UCD Upward Bound Seniors this year (22) and who are working on completing their FAFSAs, applying for scholarships and completing their college matriculation steps for next year.
LCAP Goal #2. Anderson Union High School District will provide a safe, orderly, and responsive learning environment for all students.
SARC
The annual SARC (School Accountability Report Card) and FIT (Facility Inspection Tool) report are both complete and ready for board review/approval before submitted to the state and place on our website.
LCAP Goal #3. AUHS will develop and maintain a systematic method for partnering with parents, guardians and community members in the ongoing development of district programs and services.
1st Semester Student Recognition Luncheon
AUHS held the 1st Semester Student Recognition Luncheon for students and their parents before we went on Christmas break. The Mr. Whitmore and Ag students prepared and served lunch while students were recognized for Academics, Citizenship and Attendance.
Girls Varsity Basketball played in the West Coast Jamboree over winter break, playing all division 1 or 2 teams, and getting a win over a division 1 team. The team also attended a St Mary's Men's Basketball game and Stockton Kings basketball game, as well as watching a Butte Women's Basketball game to see former AHS player Maria Bautista play! Lady Cubs are 8-8 and Taylor Ford is #2 in the section at 19.7 points per game and #1 in the section at 16.7 rebounds per game.
The AUHS Boys Varsity Basketball had a great trip to The City. They spent two nights in Burlingame, played Marshall High and Wallenberg High of San Francisco, went to pier 39 and watched a St. Mary Gaels University Division 1 basketball game.
Wrestling had a busy couple of weeks over the winter break with the Women's West Coast TOC, The Zinken, Sierra Nevada Classic, Doc Buchanan, and our own Nor Cal Beast in the North Tournament. AUHS wrestlers were very competitive and had many place winners from these tournaments. At the Beast in the North Tournament Sam Torres placed 2nd at 150lbs. and Jacob Torres placed 4th at 157lbs. Both Alias Raby and David Griffith traveled to Clovis for Doc Buchanan for one of the toughest tournaments in the nation. From this tournament the boys beat some tough opponents and improved their state rankings. State Rankings: Alias Raby is now ranked 3rd at 157lbs. and David Griffith 34th at 132lbs.
