The event took place during Collaboration Day and all students were able to participate during their Social Studies classes. ROP Career Specialist, Jamie Vanpool, put in a lot of hard work this year to organize this event and provide our students a chance to explore careers in the North State.
State Test Assembly
All AUHS Juniors and Seniors attended our annual CA State Test assembly on Thursday 4/10 in the PAC to celebrate the performance of last years Seniors who met and exceeded state standards, and to encourage and motivate our Juniors who will be taking the State test in a couple of weeks. Although our students show tremendous growth in test scores from their 8th grade to 11th grade year we are continuously look for ways to improve and encourage our students to display excellence. This assembly is a terrific way for us to celebrate our amazing students and the hard work that they put in to be academically proficient and college and career ready.

AUHS music students had the pleasure of the Cal Poly Humbolt Choir visiting and performing in our PAC building on Tuesday 4/8/2025.

-Buff Puff was a lot of fun! We didn't have enough students for a freshmen team, so sophomores played (and beat) the juniors, then the sophomores played (and beat) the seniors!
-We are also in the works to collaborate with Cub Connection on a community Powder Puff event in May, since we had to cancel Powder Puff in the fall.
-We will have a spirit week and staff royalty rally the week of powder puff (May 16th).
Counselors are finalizing Academic Plans and getting Seniors to complete the Anderson Community Scholarship Application. Counselors are evaluating Seniors and making sure they are on track to graduate.
Students in the Ag Science courses this week had a hands-on learning experience as they participated in a necropsy on a hog lead by Mr. Whitmore. This unique opportunity allowed them to observe firsthand the effects of pneumonia in livestock, gaining valuable insight into animal health and disease identification. Through this real-world application, students deepened their understanding of agricultural science and veterinary practices.
Cub Connection took a group of 9 students to Santa Cruz for a day trip to surf. These students were hand selected by some of our staff, students that are leaders, students that have good grades and are good examples of the type of students that Cub Connection is looking for. The students met at the high school on Saturday at 5:30 am to head to Santa Cruz. We stopped in Williams for breakfast at McDonalds, then onto Cowell's Surf Shop in Santa Cruz to get wetsuits and surf boards. The students were on the water by noon and surfed for a couple of hours before heading to the boardwalk for lunch. Next stop was Marianne’s for ice cream and “lickable” wallpaper. We then headed back home, stopping in Vacaville at In n Out for dinner. We returned at 11:00 pm with full hearts and lots of amazing memories. This trip was only possible because retired teachers and former Surf Club instructors Tim Klaiber and Troy Slosted were willing to give up their Saturday to share this experience with our Cub Connection students. It is our hope this is the first of many trips in our future.
LCAP Goal #2. Anderson Union High School District will provide a safe, orderly, and responsive learning environment for all students.
The AUHS Food Service staff is holding a recipe contest! Entrees must be submitted by April 30th. Pick up the flier with all the guidelines, in the cafeteria next to the RECIPE CONTEST sign. The winning recipe will be placed on future menus. Good luck staff and students!
Collaboration
All district science teachers met at AUHS during this week's collaboration to discuss courses that might help our students proficiency on the CA Science Test (CAST), and how to incoperate as many tested areas of science into two years of science.
LCAP Goal #3. AUHS will develop and maintain a systematic method for partnering with parents, guardians and community members in the ongoing development of district programs and services.
