Grades 2nd-5th
This week we're learning about organization in the library. Two important things to remember in locating a specific book:
Fiction is organized in alphabetical order by the author's last name. Note, there will be an E or F (sometimes an FIC) on the top line of the spine label. Below that will be the first three letters of the author's last name.
Nonfiction is organized in numerical order by subject (every possible subject has its own number). This is called the Dewey decimal system. Numbers are followed by the first three letters of the author's last name on the second line of the spine label.
