Hello ACPS families! For the month of March, we are focusing on cultural awareness and diversity.
It is important to start having conversations about individual and cultural differences at a young age. One way to teach children to respect and apperciate differences is by working in aspects of diversity in all areas of their lives. Sometimes fear or discomfort can cause us to stray away from these conversations with children, but it is crucial that we push through this discomfort. Below are some resources that you can use to help start some conversations regarding accepting others and celebrating differences.
We have included some visuals that discuss the various aspects of culture, strategies for teachng kids about race, and an explaination of how to teach diversity and tolerance. There are also a few videos that discuss activities you can do on your own or with your children. Lastly, we have included a tips and tricks page with some resources on how to discuss diversity with both younger and older students.
We hope you find all of these resources helpful. If you would like more information, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
