Welcome to CCIP
Welcome to the Cairo Community Interpreter Project (CCIP) - where we work to strengthen the multilingual capacities of migrant and refugee field work around the world.
We train community interpreters working in migrant and refugee field settings, and provide technical assistance to the aid organizations that rely on those interpreters in their programs and services for migrants and refugees.
about us
CCIP began in 2002 as a collaborative effort between CMRS and interpreters working in refugee aid NGOs, to provide high standard interpreting training grounded in the unique contexts and challenges of migrant, asylum and refugee fieldwork.
CCIP also partners with NGOs and aid entities to develop multilingual best practices and interpreting coordination systems within the organizations, so to enhance the communication efficacy of their programs that operate across many languages.
Since 2002, CCIP has led over 26 editions of its flagship interpreter training program in Egypt, and over 30 training editions with migrant, asylum and refugee organizations in other countries, including Turkey, Tanzania, Hong Kong, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Lebanon, Sudan, and the UK.
For examples of CCIP projects with other organizations, have a look at these field reports from IOM Egypt and JRS Indonesia:
