The Atoka football team kicked off their first official game of the 2023-24 season on September 1st against Ringling. After the game, I met with Coach Cupp for a couple of interview questions. He responded with some pretty realistic responses. For the first question, I asked “Do you think your players were prepared for this game”? “With it being as early in the season as it is, I don’t think any team is truly prepared but we were as prepared as possible” he responds. I followed up by asking him about what he thought was a turning point for this game. He stated that it was “after the first series when we started getting after it.” The last question I asked Atoka football head coach Jacob Cupp was: After watching and seeing your team play, what can you change for future games? “We played hard, we just need to keep working on learning what we are doing and doing the little things better,” he replied. Opening up the season with a close game against a good team, the Atoka Wampus Cats are prepared to pick up a winning season with a new team and a fresh start.
