John Williams is a senior here at Atoka High School. He recently received a $1,000 scholarship award for being the A+ Student Athlete of the Week. He’s a member of FCCLA and Student Council. John represents AHS in a number of other ways, like as a defensive player for the soccer team and the kicker for the football team. John is also the vice president of National Honor Society as well as a member of NTHS, TSA and the championship-winning robotics team.
“He is not afraid to dip his toe into all different types of subjects and clubs,” Mrs. Garison stated. His mother, Jeani Williams, is the most proud of him: “As his mom, I am super proud of him. It makes my heart happy when others recognize his character and strengths. John is continuously observing his environment and looking for ways to improve while assisting others. He has always had a self-driven attitude, even as a child.” Williams is going to graduate this coming May with 36 college credit hours.
When it comes to how this reflects on the school, Mr. Manion, the principal, stated, “I like the fact that it brings a positive light for Atoka Public Schools.” Mr. Manion also said that John is a“very deserving student who I feel has worked very hard at everything he does to get that.” For other students wanting to become the next A+ Student of the Week, here are some words of advice from teachers: “Students need to be involved as much as they can. Be involved in community stuff. Work hard to keep up your grades. Always be a good person with integrity and character.” “Stick-to-it-tiveness is the key to making your dreams come true. Your drive and determination will lead you to success.”
