As winter comes to an end, golf season looms on the horizon. I spoke with the golf coach, Coach Linton, to ask him a bit about what the season will hold for our athletes. He informed me that golf season starts in March and will end in late April. Linton stated, “Typically you will have 7 to 8 tournaments during the year then you will start {qualifying} for regionals and state.” Each tournament consists of 18 holes for high school and nine holes for middle school.

When questioned as to the importance of golf to Linton, he responded, “Golf is something I have enjoyed for years, {I’ve} gained many friendships from the sport.” Linton feels as though golf is something an individual will continue to play “well into the later years of {their} life.” What are the benefits of playing golf? Well, Linton shared that, because a bad shot cannot be blamed on anyone but yourself, golf is a great sport for accountability. “Controlling your emotions is very important.” Too many emotions can impact the performance of the players.
