The Wampus Cat Chorus and the McCall Middle School Singers had a very successful time at the solo and ensemble district competition. They had several middle schoolers and majority of the highschool choir involved. The choir director Jenna Pebworth said, “I AM THRILLED with how districts went. We had quite a few students that went and we had a full weekend of success with it.” We had several ensemble/duets that preformed very well. Daviegh Grimsley and John Gibbons sang This Train as a duet and scored a 2 out of 5. Annah Gray and Cyrah Hughes sang Under Winter Moon as a duet and scared a 1 out of 5. Ginger Cochran, Audrey McClur, and Lucy Cochran sang One Mile as an ensemble and scored a 1 out of 5. Ruby Copeland, Ginger Cochran, Lucy Cochran, Makinzlee Glenn, Audry McClur, Daviegh Grimzley, and Micheal Jones sang Hope is The Answer as an ensemble and scored a 1 out of 5. As you can tell Mrs. Pebworth has high expectations for full choir districts competition. She said, “I always have high expectations for my groups because they are phenomenal humans. They work hard everyday to perfect something as beautiful as a natural talent, and allow me to instruct them in ways to bend and shape that talent to make a sound that fits the goal for what we are working on that day. Districts for both our full-choirs is going to be at the very least a learning experience, but I believe that our groups will do wonderful. It has been a few years since Atoka has had a full-choir attend OSSAA Districts and we are going to go in ready to perform and as always with State being the Goal!”
Score scale is 1 being best and 5 being worst
